Colour-led, thoughtful design, was at the heart of the renovation of this Edwardian Home in London by Katia Perez Design, who chose American Black Walnut to form a warm, cohesive foundation in the home.
This Edwardian townhouse in Muswell Hill, London, has undergone a beautiful renovation, led by Katia Perez Design, a leading London design practice who work on beautiful private homes and award-winning developments.
At the heart of their concept was to introduce a bold, confident colour palette throughout the property that would bring energy, balance and harmony to every space - whilst respecting the home’s period features.
“We wanted the scheme to move beyond traditional Edwardian colours, reflecting our client’s personal preferences to create a connected and contemporary feel to the interiors.”
Leading the interior design from concept to completion, and working closely with contractors throughout, the transformation of the semi-detached home involved a full turn-key interior design and renovation. Each area was designed to reflect the client’s vision of understated luxury, balancing practical design with fun-led, bold schemes and a refined, well-resolved aesthetic.
"Flooring was such an important component. We needed a strong foundation that would offer both complementary and contrasting tones to support our use of colour, whilst maintaining a sense of harmony.
“After exploring various options, a darker-toned wood floor emerged as the natural choice to introduce depth, texture and richness, whilst also sitting comfortably alongside the home’s original period features.”
Our American Black Walnut was selected for its distinctive character and tonal depth. The rustic-grade boards celebrate the natural variation of walnut, adding authenticity and warmth. Each board is sanded to a luxuriously smooth finish and sealed with layers of clear oil, creating a durable, hardwearing surface with a subtle, sophisticated sheen.
“They are beautiful floors, perfect to bring a refined elegance and timeless sophistication into the design. Having the same floor available in both herringbone and plank formats was ideal. We introduced a herringbone pattern in living spaces and bedrooms, while the planks create a seamless transition on stairs.”
Once the floors were selected, we introduced Katia to approved V4 installer We Know Flooring who completed the expert installation of the Walnut wood flooring.
The finished home exudes bold style and elegance. “This was such a fabulous project to see come together. We oversaw all installations and final styling carefully to ensure every detail was carried through as intended. The result is a home that feels expressive yet balanced, where colour, texture, and bespoke details come together to create a characterful family space designed to be lived in every day.”
