Bring Nature Inside - The Animation Story
Watch the full animation. https://www.youtube.com/embed/AG6a5EsPFVQ At the heart of everything we do at V4 Wood Flooring is a core value; to deliver real wood products that Bring Nature Inside. We wanted to find a way to bring this ethos to life. Create a story that engages our audiences with the beauty of nature and strip it back to the essence of how our natural environment, full of organic wonder, has such an effortless place in our surroundings. And so the origination of creating a captivating animation began. Working with animation director Effie Pappa, a London based award-winning freelance film and advertising Director, Animator and Artist - a story board unfolded where we would take our ‘inside world’ outside - back into nature to reconnect with the origins and organic surroundings that inspire our products. The child that features captures the child in all of us – where the desire to explore and discover never ends. Creating a scaled forest set; intricately dressed with natural elements, we created the scene of a sublime and magical wood where our leading character is drawn into the outside world, curious and captivated in discovering how we effortlessly connect with nature. Elements of the home uncovered in the wood are a reminder of nature’s natural synergy with our own homes and interiors – and how V4’s relationship with Bring Nature Inside inspires our range of beautiful real wood products. The animation is a prelude into our contemporary real wood floor and wall solutions. Designed with nature in mind, and sustainably sourced, our extensive palette of wood floor and wall surfaces can be discovered in our latest brochure. We hope our new website will enable you, just like our animation character, to explore and discover an extensive spectrum of natural wood products that will enhance any interior space and bring nature inside with stunning results. See how we made the animation in these behind the scenes images. Brand new to the V4 Wood Flooring collection is our Alpine Lock range. The range features four distinctively different tones which make up a palette of wood floors which offer subtle shades that deliver soft, understated warmth and character. Precision milled from the highest quality European Oak, the surface of each plank is lightly brushed to bring out the natural oak character of the wood, and then finished with colouring techniques to treat the surface and create each distinctive colour way in the collection. A water based top coat lacquer adds to the smooth contemporary effect and delivers an easy to maintain surface finish. Alpine Lock introduces our first glueless locking system wood floor range. The oak top layer is applied to a 5Gc glueless locking profile. This appears similar to a traditional tongue and groove base, however the planks click into place to lock together tightly, removing the need for glue or screws to secure the boards in place. Utilising the latest 5Gc technology means the interlocking joints create a very tight fit as each plank is laid, which also reduces the risk of gaps or creaking commonly found in some less advanced click wood floor systems. The simple click method creates a quick, easy and versatile installation option, resulting in a seamless floating floor that can be installed over underlay. Ideal for installation in any space, at 14mm thick Alpine Lock is also particularly well suited for use with underfloor heating. The Alpine Lock Collection AL101 – Brushed Oak The oak surface is lightly brushed to maintain a very natural oak finish which introduces soft whiter tones which catch the eye and add a layer of depth and interest to the boards. AL102 – Jetsum Oak Stained with natural wood lyes to deliver an almost untreated finish to the boards, the result is a muted raw oak tone that would work just as well in a neutral or bold interior colour scheme. AL103 – Fjordic Shore Cooler grey tones accentuate the oak finish to deliver a smooth, contemporary finish that is naturally light and space enhancing. AL104 – Silver Sands Ripples of soft silver tones form along the grains to create a beautiful muted affect. Understated yet striking the boards deliver naturally calming tones. Light and muted wood floors are growing in popularity. They deliver understated tones that are the perfect choice if you don't want your flooring to dominate your home - that doesn’t mean they don’t deliver on style though. Lighter shades naturally create a smooth and calming backdrop that will work with any interior style – classic or contemporary. They are an ideal choice to make smaller spaces feel bigger, but are just as at home in large open plan design, promoting natural light and bringing together all elements of a large room without competing against them. Mode colouring techniques have introduced a spectrum of muted tones into wood floor design. Surfaces are treated to soften the character and the application of products such as wood lye then lightens and softly bleaches the surface of the wood boards. This produces a smooth surface where light coloured oils are applied to create distinctive, mode tones. The V4 wood floor collection features an array of light wood floor shades. Here we’ve hand-picked some of our most popular styles. Eiger Grand Oak Embossed Titanium White UV Oiled An oversized board which maintains some natural character while delivering a smooth, almost white surface. Alpine Lock Silver Sands With a simple glueless locking system, ripples of soft silver tones form along the grains to create a beautiful muted affect. Zigzag Herringbone Nordic Beach Mode parquet in engineered oak blocks with tongue and groove install profile, Nordic Beach has gone through a process of surface brushing, bleaching and then layers of distinctive coloured oils give it its final soft beach like finish. Deco Silver Haze Oak Rustic Brushed and Hardwaxed Oiled The top layer of oak has been lightly brushed to relieve the natural grain then wood lye bleaches the surface to remove yellow oak tones and create a light grey haze. Urban Nature Oak Rustic Limehouse White Hand finished to create a distinctive surface, three coats of hardwaxed oil add white tones that enhances the natural light grain. Eiger Phoenix White UV Oiled After the surface is brushed to soften the oak character white oils are applied and buffed producing a pale white floor that maintains some natural oak colouring. If these lighter choices of wood flooring interest you why not order free samples of your favourites, or visit your local V4 retailer to view full size samples. Read moreThe benefits of choosing engineered wood flooring
Choosing a new floor is a big decision. It’s one of the items in home design you want to last both in terms of style and durability. Wood flooring is without doubt one of the most popular options in today’s mode interiors market, offering greater practicality than easily stained carpets and a higher quality of finish than many laminate, vinyl and tile options. Once you’ve decided on wood flooring the next decision is what type - solid or engineered. We’ve been specialising in the highest quality engineered wood floor products for years, and from sustainability to durability, not to mention good looks, here’s why you are actually making a solid choice when you choose a V4 engineered wood floor. It looks just like real wood. And that’s mainly due to the fact that it is! All of our wood floors have a real wood top surface, and that’s all you see once your floor is installed. The manufacturing process in all of our planks uses either real oak or walnut wood of various grades in their veneer surface, and dependent on style preference and budget this can be as thick as 6mm on many of our floors. A wider choice of tones, finishes and sizes The mode colouring and treatment techniques we apply to our engineered wood floors mean there is an endless array of choice to find something to match your interior style. Our collections range from traditional oak styles and uber cool greys, to white effects and deep rich tones. And whether you opt for an oak or walnut wood veneer, advanced oil and lacquer treatments applied to the surface produce durable natural, matt or gloss finished surfaces. Board sizes vary too – with fewer trees being used than solid wood a wide board becomes an affordable and more environmentally friendly option. Sustainability If an environmentally friendly choice is important to you then our engineered wood floors win hands down over solid wood. Firstly, the amount of wood used to produce each plank is reduced significantly when you consider it is only the top layer that is produced from forested trees. The impact of wood floor production on the environment is also of significant importance to us and all of our wood flooring is manufactured in FSC and PEFC certified factories where the wood is responsibly and ethically sourced from well managed forests. Limited expansion compared to solid wood A major advantage of engineered wood due to its multi-layer construction is it won’t contract and expand to the same extent a solid wood floor does. This means wood floors can be confidently installed in rooms with a typically higher moisture level such as bathrooms, kitchens and anywhere temperatures fluctuate. With minimal expansion gaps deployed under skirting or trims in the installation, you won’t notice any small movements from your engineered floor – unlike some of the complications found with solid floors. Long-lasting durability Beneath the real wood top layer is a clever construction of multiple layers of hardwood, bonded to provide ultimate stability and durability. This process is completed to the highest standards in all of our floors meaning they can withstand high footfall and years of domestic and commercial use. The application of advanced UV lacquer, natural oil or UV oil adds another layer of durability to our floors, supported by a 35year domestic guarantee. Re-sand your floors for boards that look as good as new While we predict it will take some years of heavy wear and tear on a V4 wood floor before you might think they are looking wo , all of our wood floors have a top layer of veneer thick enough to enable floors to be re-sanded and re-treated with oil or lacquer - just like solid wood - for floors that look as good as the day they were installed. The thicker veneer you opt for, the more times this process can take place. The life-span of your floors just got a lot longer. Ease of installation and use with underfloor heating All of our engineered floors use a tongue and groove system for easy installation, less wastage and greater flexibility when transitioning with other floor types. We recommend you consider board thickness if joining floors with other surfaces to find as close a possible match to reduce messy transitions – a flexibility you have with engineered construction. And with so many homes looking at the option of underfloor heating the good news is almost of our wood floors are ideal to install over mode underfloor heating systems, whereas there are a host of complications when solid floors are used over similar heating systems. And finally cost….. Compared to most solid wood options, engineered wood floors are a more cost-effective option, for a product that looks just as good, if not better. Decided an engineered wood floor is for you? Then why not view the full V4 Collection and order some free samples.
