Coppa Club, Cardiff

Coppa Club opens the door to their latest townhouse in Cardiff, complete with Tannery Brown plank and Parquet, perfectly complementing this iconic building’s heritage.

Nearly twenty years after the iconic David Morgan department store closed its doors after 125 years of trading, Coppa Club reinvigorates the Morgan Quarter located in the heart of The Hayes. With eight separate areas to enjoy within the Townhouse including an Atrium Cocktail Bar and and a private dining area, this all-day venue describes itself as a “place for work and play”, and so whether you are grabbing morning coffee, hosting a work meeting, or celebrating over dinner and drinks, the Cardiff Townhouse welcomes you in style. When bringing the historic building back to life, it was important that each element of the design was sympathetic to the building's heritage. In keeping with Victorian architecture and design, hardwood floors were chosen in a deep oak shade. Our Tannery Brown plank and parquet engineered floors from our Deco collections were the perfect choice for this design due to their aged aesthetic, which beautifully bridged the old architecture with the new Townhouse.  We spoke with designer Sean, who introduced us to the fantastic team working on this project:

“For this project, I worked collaboratively with Run For The Hills who provided the interior design services, HJ Architecture who provided the architectural services and myself, who managed and coordinated the design from the first concept stage to completion on-site”

This townhouse follows the success of the Guildford club which opened last summer, and also featured our Tannery Brown flooring in both plank and parquet. The subtle nod connects the two townhouses, allowing patrons to immediately recognise the Coppa Club style whilst still maintaining each building’s own identity, as Sean explained, “Each Coppa Club takes its design inspiration from the character of the building that we inherit, which makes each and every Coppa Club unique”.

Tannery Brown offers a rustic aged aesthetic perfect for installing character into any design. With tumbled-edged and pitted details across each board, this floor blended in seamlessly with the feel of the historic building. Available in both plank and parquet, Tannery Brown can seamlessly flow throughout any space for the perfect mix-and-match design. Complete with a UV colour oil, Tannery Brown offers a hardwearing and durable flooring solution perfect for commercial areas such as the Townhouse, without compromising on style as Sean went on to say…

We chose your Tannery Brown product as we had used it previously at another of our Coppa Club sites in Guildford. Not only were we very impressed with the quality and finish of the product, it was also that it was very competitively priced. Specifying high-quality, good-value products for our clients is at the forefront of our decision making when specifying products, and this flooring met that criteria.

The final design offers a functional yet luxurious space, perfect for creating the feel of a members’ club, without the member’s prices. The use of herringbone in the restaurant offers a stylish intricate design, whilst the plank counterpart opens up the rest of the townhouse, drawing your eye along the bar area towards the captivating artwork throughout the club.
