The Fixer Uppers

20th-century Victorian-style cottage undergoes large renovation by homeowner influencers Ross and Ian with bespoke parquet Flooring

Having designed many beautiful rooms before, Ross and Ian - the Fixer Uppers - were no strangers to creating beautiful spaces, and their current project is no exception, as they have turned their Victorian Cottage, built in 1905 during the Edwardian era into a warm and inviting dream home. Over the past year, Ross and Ian have worked hard, planning their large-scale extension whilst also bringing the interior design together. Now, the couple has created a contemporary and inviting living room, perfect for all occasions. When it came to choosing the right floor, Ross explained that we wanted a floor that not only had interest but that would bring warmth to the space. It also needed to compliment blue and green tones before going on to say We spent a few months deciding on the flooring of choice. Using the different samples provided by V4, we laid the floor out to see what worked best within the space.

“It also needed to compliment blue and green tones before going on to say We spent a few months deciding on the flooring of choice. Using the different samples provided by V4, we laid the floor out to see what worked best within the space. The Sherwood has lots of interest with warm subtle tones. It would work well in most rooms as it’s so versatile. We have used engineered wood before and after seeing V4's vast range at their Woking showroom, there was no doubt in our minds with our preference of flooring”

Ross and Ian chose a bespoke engineered wood flooring, that combined the characterful and warm subtle tones of Sherwood plank with the herringbone style they wanted for their living room design. Each block is complete with a brushed and stained top layer before being finished with a hardwearing and protective oil – perfect for a busy home. “When asked what they liked about the bespoke herringbone flooring, Ross described we loved the fact that we could choose both plank and herringbone versions of our flooring. We decided to go with the Herringbone version for our Living Room to add extra interest and we love how it turned out Before adding you get so much variation in each plank, not one plank is the same”.

The floor certainly added a warming effect to the living room, and beautifully contrasted both the white media wall units, and the Heals left-hand facing corner sofa. Another detail that adds texture to the room is the white Nyoko rug, which gives a nod to the built-in units, tying the living room design together.

Finally, the leather pieces including the chair and footstool from Timothy Oulton add fantastic rustic elements throughout the design, pairing nicely with the rustic character of our engineered oak flooring. When discussing their experience with V4 Wood Flooring, Ross noted We can’t recommend V4 enough.

The showroom is probably the best we have ever been to and the help and support you get from the team is second to none. We want to do another renovation just so we can choose more V4 flooring for our next project!.
