Apartment Conversion, Woking
Deco Silver Haze wood flooring delivers modern styling to an apartment conversion in Send, Surrey
Located in the pretty village of Send, just ten minutes from Woking and its mainline train station with fast connections into London, the conversion of the offices to high-end residential apartments that would appeal to professionals made perfect sense. Dave Hazel, a manager at Peacock Build and Maintenance, had worked with the developer on previous projects and was tasked with the build and fit out.
“V4 has been my first choice wood flooring company for many years and being local I called into their headquarters to see their latest product lines. Deco had just been released into their wood floor range, offering the latest in contemporary wood floor finishes and I knew it would be perfect for these modern homes"
Dave chose Deco Silver Haze Oak Rustic for the floors. Created with a combination of traditional colouring techniques, the 4mm oak top layer is lightly brushed to form a relief of the natural grain. Then a coat of wood lye is hand applied to bleach the oak surface which reacts with the natural acids in the wood and bleaches the surface and prevents the oak from yellowing. The result is a textured surface to which layers of coloured oil are applied to create deep lustred boards with a distinctive grain. Silver Haze maintains traditional oak wood colourings which combine with soft and subtle silver accents in the grain. The use of this wood flooring in the apartments means natural light is accentuated with the light tones of the flooring and spaces feel open and bright. The neutral tones of the wood allow it to work perfectly alongside the modern kitchen and furnishings.
“I’m really happy with the finished look, and so is my client. Deco is another high quality wood floor from V4 and I will definitely use it again in future projects. The apartments have been well received since going on the market with five under offer already.”
