Family home in London is renovated to create a timeless design with the help of Souq Designs by Roxi Zeeman

Souq design is an interior design studio based in Kent, that works with clients across the country to help create beautiful and timeless designs for their clients. Founder, Roxi Zeeman has worked international, forecasting interior trends and developing her own homeware ranges built with sustainability in mind. And with this extensive experience in her pocket, when she took on the project of creating a family home that her clients would love, she knew just how to transform this London-based Victorian property into a dream home. The property was a semi-detached Victorian terrace house in London, and whilst it still maintained fantastic period characteristics including high ceilings and original architraves, the clients wanted a space that was both practical and obtained a timeless design. With the client explaining to Roxi:

“We wanted a space where we could spend lots of time as a family and host friends for dinner.  We didn’t want the kitchen to completely dominate the space with loads of high cupboards, we wanted to keep it all quite open so you could be involved with whatever was going on, wherever you are. Originally, I was keen on dark cabinets, but I'm so thrilled with the colour Souq Design picked and all of the textures that they have introduced, especially the unlacquered brass. My hope was to make it a room we loved to spend time in rather than it just function as a kitchen. Souq Design have 100% made it that way.”

With a relatively open brief, Roxi explained that she had a great artistic license; knowing they wanted ‘a timeless space that felt open & modern while maximizing storage and natural light’ she got to work creating the perfect space for the family. When it came to the flooring choice, Roxi specified our Seashell Chevron, from our Tundra Chevron Collection.

Seashell Chevron is a rustic grade engineered oak floor that has been brushed before being finished with a hardwearing colour oil, providing the floor with a light finish. Inspired by 17th-century French herringbone floors, this 45° angled floor offers a contemporary twist on a classic flooring style. When asked why Seashell Chevron was specified for this project, Roxi explained:

“I specified the chevron layout as a modern, Parisian-inspired alternative to herringbone. I fell in love with the white oak finish Seashell offers and knowing it would provide the perfect timeless base for the entire ground floor of this property. I specified engineered flooring as a low-maintenance option that is conducive to busy family life. The technical support provided by your team was world-class and very thorough which gave the contractor & my client great confidence”.

When asked what she liked about the Seashell Chevron floor, Roxi explained I love the simplicity chevron offers, inspired by Parisian interiors providing a timeless foundation that feels effortless for years to come, before going on to say I am always inspired by incorporating authentic materials with an earthy colour palette elevated by organic patina’s and seeing how they all interact with each other.

This kitchen feels open and modern, filled with natural light while being full of texture, depth, and contrast. The perfect recipe for a timeless space. Overall, Souq Design was able to create the perfect space for the client, filling their home with a practical and timeless design. Roxi went on to say Thank you to your team [at V4 Wood Flooring] for being so generous with your samples, expertise and technical support.

It is a joy to work with you all, making me a very loyal V4 customer never having to look elsewhere for my wooden flooring needs. To keep up to date with more of Souq Design by Roxi Zeeman’s projects and designs, check out their Instagram page here.
