Each year, Grand Designs goes live in NEC Birmingham and Excel London to bring inspiration and expert advice to homeowners looking to design their perfect space. With over 300 exhibitors, a wide array of live talks and showcases there are so many exciting things to see at the live shows. One of the most exciting being the House of Grand Ideas. New for 2023, the House of Grand Ideas was the centrepiece of the exhibition. Complete with everything from garden furniture to kitchens and home security to a cinema room, the home showcased innovative design solutions which Grand designs stated was “designed to educate, inspire and wow visitors”. V4 were excited to be supporting one our premium retail partners Wellington Flooring as they transformed the House of Grand Ideas through a fantastic installation of flooring solutions. This included V4’s Frozen Umber in both herringbone and plank from the Deco Plank and Deco Parquet collections installed in the kitchen and hallway. With muted oak tones, Frozen Umber is the epitome of a versatile floor, perfectly pairing with whatever colour your design throws at it.

When discussing their experience working on the House of Grand Ideas, Wellington Flooring Brand & Marketing manager Lucy explains…

“Grand Designs was an amazing experience to be a part of as a relatively new and small company – We were extremely lucky to get the call asking us to fit the flooring throughout the exhibition house. And even luckier that we were able to work with some of our favourite manufacturers, including V4. With it being such a large space that needed to be completed within a timeframe that initially seemed impossible, we knew we had to use a wood manufacturer we trusted and wouldn’t bring any problems whilst fitting, so choosing to use V4’s Deco range was a no-brainer for us. And with such a variety of colours to choose from that match each other in herringbone and plank, we knew the interior designers would have no problem finding the perfect floor to go in the house. Frozen Umber has never looked so good!”

The kitchen, complete with Nolte KĂŒchen German made luxury units, had a maroon theme running throughout to create a warm and inviting design. The deep colours of the units perfectly complemented the richer tones in the Frozen Umber planks, creating a harmonious design, drawing your eye along the room to open up the space. Whilst the hallway, home to the grand self-playing Yahama piano, was fitted with the parquet Frozen Umber to create a contemporary-classic style. The Graham & Brown wall art, complete with hues of greens and blues creates a juxtaposition to the white walls, joining the herringbone floor in adding character to the room. When speaking with an attendee, they commented:

“When you see Frozen Umber on a large scale, you see the beautiful and varied tones come together to create a classy and contemporary aesthetic throughout the home. One thing that really stands out about Frozen Umber is its ability to go with any colour. A floor like this allows each room to hold their own identity with individual designs and styles, whilst still tying each room together to create to cohesive and creative home”.
