Property developers Elsmore Homes Ltd connect new-build to nature using White Smoked Oak Plank
Elsmore Homes Ltd are a property development company located in Surrey and Hampshire, which combines their skills in interior design and property development to create brilliant houses from the initial concept through to the final design. Not only this, but at Elsmore Homes Ltd, they specialise in creating eco-friendly homes, with sustainability at the heart of each design, and this current project was no exception, as director Thomas Elsmore explains:
âGreen Hollow is one of three new homes that have been designed to be a traditional family home in a private woodland setting. Kind on the environment, our new home also meets the practical needs of family life. The home has been designed for family living and unites traditional building with the very latest in modern technology and sustainability. Sustainability and zero carbon living drive Elsmore Homeâs philosophy. The home has a full host of features to make it a home fit for the future with PV panels, battery system, MVHR ventilation system, Air Source Heat pump, zoned underfloor heating and Solar Thermal panels. Designed and built to last this timber frame home achieves an EPC of A 97.â
When it came to the design of the house, the team wanted to create a home that would seamlessly connect with the surrounding nature, emulating the inviting warmth offered by the woodlands. Thomas expanded on the design concept, saying:
âOur internal brief was to design a family home that reflected its woodland setting and that made the most of the stunning tree-filled views. It needed to be built to last using high-quality design and materials and have a low carbon footprint using the latest sustainable technologies and natural materials that would be timeless and not end up in landfill after the trend had finishedâ.
For the home, Elmore Homes Ltd knew that engineered wood would be the material of choice when it came to the flooring decisions, Thomas explains we knew we wanted an engineered oak flooring that was designed to work well with under-floor heating and after visiting the V4 showroom it was clear the V4 flooring products would match the quality we wanted. We wanted an engineered oak flooring as it is a natural product and instantly adds a timeless warmth to a home. To that end, they chose DC203, White Smoked Oak from our Deco Plank Collection.
White Smoked Oak offers a unique and rustic design, with beautifully long and wide planks that are brushed and smoked before they are complete with a white colour oil. The end result is a contemporary twist on a classic oak floor, with warm varied tones from the smoking, muted by the white leaving you with a floor complete with character and charm. When asked what they liked about the flooring, Thomas described:
âWe loved the extra wide width of the White Smoked Oak planks and the subtle natural variations. It was easy for our carpenters to install with the tongue and grove fittings which allowed us to keep on schedule. Our favourite element of the design was the unique smoked finish as it gave the home a more contemporary feel and tied into the darker grey/brown of the Scott Pines that are in the woodland gardenâ. Before going on to say, The service [from V4 Wood Flooring] has been friendly and professional from the initial showroom visit to the delivery team, we will certainly be using V4 as our approved supplier for future buildsâ.
