Residential Design House, Saskia Kate Interiors, complete family home renovation with V4’s Seashell Herringbone

Saskia Kate Interiors is a residential design house that works across London and Surrey with private clients, providing them with the very best bespoke designs that perfectly meet each client’s needs and wants. Believing highly in collaboration, Saskia Kate Interiors have worked with many companies in the luxury sector, sharing the same principles and values to achieve fantastic designs from start to finish. This family home was no exception to the high-quality designs that Saskia Kate Interiors have worked on in the past, as this 1990’s home was renovated to create a home better suited for family life, as founder, Rebecca Edmunds describes the project:

“Extension and refurbishment of a family home, originally built in the 1990s by a prominent local developer. The property was in need of updating and the space optimizing for more open-plan family living. The design brief was to create a ‘contemporary classic’ design that felt cohesive, with each space feeling defined yet working as a whole. The use of colour was key to injecting personality into each space and complementing the clients existing art collection”.

Wanting to create a design that embodied ‘contemporary classic’, when it came to the flooring Rebecca chose V4’s Seashell herringbone from our Tundra collection. Offering a modern twist on traditional parquet blocks, our Seashell herringbone perfectly fitted the bill for this design, with a brushed and colour oiled top layer, this select grade floor offers a subtle warming rustic charm without being too powerful as to distract from the rest of a design.

The fairer-toned blocks also add a great deal of light to any design, which is perfect for opening a room. When explaining why she chose Seashell, Rebecca notes: Updating the finishes throughout was an integral element of the project. The Seashell Herringbone floor was chosen to create a light and airy feel which would also contrast perfectly with the walnut joinery, doors and refurbished staircase.

“Available in herringbone, plank and chevron, it was important for Rebecca to ensure the right style of Seashell was chosen for this project. Rebecca went on to explain that the herringbone was chosen as a timeless design which also added visual interest. Before going on to say The hallway was a particular favourite of ours. Replacing the original yellow-toned oak doors and staircase with the more contemporary walnut finishes, together with the seashell herringbone floor was a real transformation. The herringbone added character without overwhelming the space, which worked as a wonderful backdrop to the hand-blown glass chandelier in the stairwell.”

The end result of this family home design was a beautiful and practical space, optimising the rooms for a more open plan design and adding a plethora of light, aided by the Seashell flooring. With beautiful contrasts throughout the design, not only from the walnut finishes but also the consistent theme of blue from the living room paint, to the sofa and chairs, this design certainly achieved a contemporary classic design that is filled with character.

When discussing the project with V4 Wood Flooring, Rebecca commented We place a huge importance on our industry relationships and have forged partnerships with suppliers that provide not only quality products, but first-class service.
