Cube Award Winners ‘Signature Me’ install White Smoked Oak in Plank and Herringbone

ZB203 & DC203 White Smoked Oak

Located in the pristine countryside of Surrey, this Oxted house is home to the Cawthornes, who last year undertook a full renovation to create their ideal home design. Working closely with West Sussex flooring experts Signature Me, the Cawthornes decided to undergo a complete floor replacement throughout the entire house. Using renovation screed – available at our Surrey Trade Counter – Signature Me repaired the subfloors, ready for the couple to pick their forever floor. Perfectly contrasting the light yet warm design, the Crawthorne’s selected White Smoked Oak from our Deco Plank Collection. The long, rustic planks of European Oak instantly create a classic and elegant design, whilst the unique finish of White Smoked Oak adds a contemporary twist. To provide a naturally aged style, the oak is first stored in a smoke-filled chamber before being cured with a white oil, to soften the rich tones and provide a hardwearing surface layer, perfect for busy homes. Running through both living rooms, along with the kitchen-come-dining room and larder, the client created a consistent design that added warmth to their home.

Wanting to create an impressive entrance, the couple chose to use the plank’s counterpart to make a statement in the hallway. Part of the Deco Parquet collection, White Smoked Oak herringbone offers the same muted smoked tones but with the added intricate detail the parquet floor offers. When discussing the client’s choice to use sister floors, Signature Me went on to say…

“The client was looking for a floor which unified their home, helping connect the rooms with a visual continuation, unifying the whole space, whilst allowing each room to have its own identity with other decorated areas.”

The end result is a beautiful open space, complete with the perfect balance of light from the large windows, and warmth from the rustic floor. The herringbone-covered entrance creates the desired statement when you first walk through the front door, before leading you to the adjoining rooms where the matching plank flooring completes the timeless flooring design. To finish the design, the uplifting colour of the blue island in the kitchen pairs perfectly with the white walls and oak floors to add some warmth to the cabinetry whilst maintaining the light and airy design; the blue features are then subtly carried on throughout the home with through the upholstery and cabinets.

This fantastic installation won Signature Me first place at our 2023 Cube Awards for Best Retailer Project.
