Vittoria Rustic Oak Wood Floors are chosen for a Victorian home makeover in Wirral
Mike Carney and his partner Rachel moved into this Victorian semi-detached house in Wirral just four months ago. With a traditional red brick exterior, they loved the style and space the four bed house offered, but it was in need of an internal makeover. Mike explains, We loved the house, it’s in a great location and has some lovely period features, but the inside décor was very tired and dated. We plan to work our way around the entire property to modernise it and the living room was our first priority. It’s a large space that runs the entire length of the house. It had previously been knocked through to create one room so configuration wise the space was fine, it just had very dated wallpaper and worn out old carpets. Mike stripped the room back and the walls were replastered ready to give them a new bright and neutral paint finish. The room gets a lot of natural light as it has windows at one end and patio doors at the other.
"We opted to keep the walls light too, to maximise this natural light and create a calm neutral backdrop for our furniture."
The next decision was flooring. The couple hoped there might be original floor boards under the carpet, but these had been removed and a concrete subfloor was in place. Still keen to secure a wood finish they considered laminate and visited their local flooring store Eclipse Flooring.
“Darren was incredibly knowledgeable about the different flooring types and having listened to our thoughts and budget steered us towards engineered wood floors and in particular V4’s Vittoria Collection.
“We wanted something quite classic and traditional, in keeping with the style of house, and the Vittoria floors had a really nice natural oak finish. The tones were perfect to add an element of contrast with the white walls, but also work with our wooden furniture pieces and oak doors.”
Eclipse supplied and installed Vittoria Oak Rustic UV Oiled Bevelled planks throughout the large living space. The boards offer classic oak planks with a modern rustic charm and are finished to a high specification using UV cured natural oil which gives a natural but durable top surface finish.
“We are really pleased with the finished floors. They’re lovely and work so well in the space. Darren was so helpful and has definitely recommended the right product. Easy to keep clean, our two cats Frankie and Pip seem happy with our choice too.”
“We’ve still got a lot more work to do to the rest of the house but we are slowly getting there, and plan to install the same floors in the entrance hallway when we start work on that.”
